    • A movable cable loop descent system comprises a cable for forming into a loop, a receiver for attachment to a structure having a receiver pulley for engaging the cable loop, a brake assembly, having a drive pulley for being rotated by the cable loop, the brake assembly for slowing a rate of travel of the cable loop and a carriage supporting a load for attachment to the cable loop at a point and for movement between the structure and the ground. A rotor and substantially parallel conductive frame is mounted on an axle through the drive pulley. Magnets on a surface of the rotor and/or the frame induce eddy currents, as they are relatively rotated, which create a rotational braking force controlling descent of the carriage and load. The brake assembly may be removably positioned by a drive-on anchor. The cable is removable and the system may form a kit.

    • A system for the evacuation of persons from a multi story structure during circumstances in which the normal escape mechanisms such as stairs and elevators are unusable for any reason. The system mounts externally of the affected structure and provides at least one evacuator upon which a person may ride in a controlled descent from an area of danger to an area of relative safety. The evacuator rides on a post and the evacuee may control the speed of his or her descent with a simple braking mechanism. A safety belt and foot rests provide a sense of security during the descent from danger.

    • A lightweight, strong, sturdy, and versatile evacuation sled is disclosed. The body of the sled may be manufactured from a single piece of material, stored flat, and folded into its functioning configuration. When folded, the sled has one or more straps that help hold it in its folded configuration and allow maneuvering or carrying the sled. The sled may be readily towed with a towing harness and may be moved down an incline, such as stairs, by means of a rope and belay device. The sled has a low coefficient of friction and is lightweight, allowing the sled to be readily moved and handled without requiring the assistance of multiple people. Additional sleds with foam inserts may be provided to carry equipment such as for life support. The sled may also provide surge capacity for facilities like hospitals, as the sled is designed to be inexpensive and essentially disposable.

    • A tall building escape apparatus includes two upright sliding rails on one side of a building where two escape exits are located. The sliding rails are cylindrical rods extended from the ground floor to the top floor of the building corresponding to hanging racks located on the top floor. The hanging racks have pulleys mounted thereon to wind a rope between the two hanging racks. The rope has two ends fastened respectively to an escape case. The escape case has retaining rollers with curved periphery to clamp the sliding rails, buffer members on the bottom side, and an entrance/exit opening on one side directing to the escape exit. When a user escapes by descending through one escape case, another escape case is pulled by the rope upwards to enable another user to escape. Thus escape speed is faster, and safety is enhanced and there is no limitation of the applicable height.

    • A fire escape device that enables parents to lower their children (as well as pets and possessions) to the safety of the ground from elevated windows or terraces of tall structures. The load-lowering device is a hard-shell vessel cradled in a fire-resistant sling that is attached to a load-carrying harness. A variable-length tether is attached to the harness for lowering the assembly. A descent control fixture, a cleat only, is affixed beneath each window and to each terrace rail in the dwelling, and this gives the occupants a plurality of stations at which to deploy the fire escape device in case of emergency. After loading the device with children, pets and/or possessions, the device allows its contents to be secured lowered in a manually-controlled descent to the ground.
