摘要： A system for filling a tank for a firefighting helicopter with water without ground personnel, comprising a pilot controlled valve assembly to selectively permit water to flow into the refill tank upon the receipt of a communication transmitted by a communication device within the helicopter. The pilot controlled valve assembly can include a supply valve configured to move between at least a closed state and an open state, a controller configured to control the supply valve, and a receiver configured to send a signal to a controller to cause the controller to at least open the supply valve upon receipt by the receiver of a communication meeting one or more predetermined criteria. The water tank can be filled from a water source, including a municipal water source, when the supply valve is open to provide a more efficient, semi-autonomous refill tank system greatly improves costly and time-consuming manually refill systems.

摘要： A dry fire protection sprinkler has an inlet seal assembly to seal an inlet orifice. A spring seal compresses in response to a load. An inlet release unit releases the inlet seal assembly. A flexible tube has an inlet end connected to the inlet release unit. A flexible linkage extends through the flexible tube, and has an inlet end connected to the inlet release. An outlet biasing portion is connected to an outlet end of the tube and an outlet end of the linkage, which displaces upon activation of the sprinkler. A sprinkler body is connected to the outlet biasing portion, with an outlet seal assembly to seal its outlet orifice. When ambient reaches a predetermined temperature, the outlet seal assembly releases from the outlet orifice, and the outlet biasing portion displaces the linkage, causing the inlet of the linkage to operate the inlet release unit, releasing the inlet seal.

摘要： A ceiling-only dry sprinkler system configured to address a storage occupancy fire event with a sprinkler operational area sufficient in size to surround and drown the fire. The system and method preferably provide for the surround and effect by activating one or more initial sprinklers, delaying fluid flow to the initial activated sprinklers for a defined delay period to permit the thermal activation of a subsequent one or more sprinklers so as to form the preferred sprinkler operational area. The sprinklers of the operational area are preferably configured so as to provide sufficient fluid volume and cooling to address the fire-event with a surround and drown configuration. The defined delay period is of a defined period having a maximum and a minimum. The preferred sprinkler system is adapted for fire protection of storage commodities and provides a ceiling only system that eliminates or otherwise minimizes the economic disadvantages and design penalties of current dry sprinkler system design.

The valve in a second non-activated test state operatively opens the flow passage, so air and fire-extinguishing medium may flow from the inlet device through the flow passage and out through the outlet device.
