摘要： A drill head assembly may include a sonde housing and a drill bit. Two or more alignment posts protruding from the steering face of the sonde housing may mate with holes on the underside of a Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) drill bit and are used to align the drill bit and transfer much of the forces from the drill bit to the sonde housing. The alignment posts reduce the load on the drill bit mounting bolts and help prevent these bolts from breaking while drilling in difficult ground conditions.

摘要： A multilateral entry tool enables an operator to identify a target lateral wellbore, and efficiently guide a bottom hole assembly (BHA) into the target lateral for diagnostic, servicing or other wellbore operations. The multilateral entry tool provides independent control over both kick-over and orientation mechanisms such that the operator may either pivot the BHA without rotating, or rotate the BHA without pivoting. The BHA may be rotated in either direction, and the degree that the BHA can be pivoted may be fully adjustable. Sensors on the entry tool may penult the operator to verify a successful lateral entry, and the BHA may be straightened to reduce drag as the BHA is advanced into the lateral wellbore.

摘要： A method and related apparatus for forming a wellbore in a subterranean formation includes forming a drill string that has a drill bit at a distal end, a drilling motor configured to rotate the drill bit with a drive shaft; a joint coupled to the drive shaft; and an actuator assembly displacing the drive shaft between a first and a second deflection angle, the drive shaft being movable at each of the deflection angles until a predetermined weight is applied to the bit. The method also includes conveying the drill bit through the wellbore and fixing the drive shaft in at least one of the first and the second deflection angles by applying a predetermined weight on the bit.

摘要： According to aspects of the present disclosure, systems and methods for controlling the direction of a drilling assembly within a borehole are described herein. An example system may include a housing 201 b (FIG. 2B) and a variable flow fluid pathway 203 (FIG. 2B) within the housing 201b. A fluid-controlled drive mechanism 209 (FIG. 2C) may be in fluid communication with the variable flow fluid pathway 203. Additionally, an offset mandrel 212 may be coupled to an output of the fluid-controlled drive mechanism 209. The offset mandrel 212 may be independently rotatable with respect to the housing 201b. The system may also include a bit shaft 216 pivotably coupled to the housing 201b and coupled to an eccentric receptacle of the offset mandrel 212.

The apparatus may include: a housing fluidly connected to a work string, with the housing having an internal portion having a guide pin; a mandrel concentrically disposed within the internal portion of the housing, the mandrel having a piston attached at a first end of the mandrel and a mandrel cap attached at a second end of the mandrel, and wherein the mandrel contains a circulation port and a jet positioned within the piston, the jet operatively configured to receive the fluid and create a pressure drop during fluid flow through the jet; a guide bushing disposed about the mandrel, the guide bushing having a predetermined guide path contained on the guide bushing and wherein the predetermined guide path is operatively associated with the guide pin; and, a spring operatively disposed within the mandrel. A method for setting a down hole tool in a wellbore is also disclosed.

摘要： A system may include a bearing cylinder that has a bored hole for receiving a drive shaft. The bored hole can correspond to an eccentric inner diameter of the bearing cylinder. A radio frequency identification (RFID) tag may be positioned on a piston that may be slideably coupled to a housing of a bottom hole assembly. A motor may be positioned within the housing of the bottom hole assembly to rotate the bearing cylinder and position the drive shaft at a bend angle. An RFID reader may be coupled to the housing of the bottom hole assembly to detect the RFID tag in response to the RFID tag being in a detectable range of the RFID reader and to transmit information about the RFID tag to control the motor.

摘要： A technique facilitates drilling of wellbores with a steerable system having a plurality of pads which may be selectively actuated in a lateral direction to apply a side force. Application of the side force is used to steer a drill bit. A valve system is positioned to control delivery of actuating fluid under pressure to individual pads in a manner that enables steering of the drill bit. The valve system allows drilling along a desired curve by controlling the flow of actuating fluid under pressure to specific steering pads at specific angular positions. The valve system also allows drilling along a desired trajectory by preventing exposure of the pads to the pressurized actuating fluid.
