    • Disclosed is an electric starter with a manual turning function. A main shaft, a drive gear mechanism, a shift fork, an electromagnetic relay guide rod and a first return spring are arranged in a housing of the electric starter. A gear shifting mechanism comprises a force receiving component which extends out of the housing of the electric starter and serves as an external force applying point so as to promote the electromagnetic relay guide rod to move rightwards, a normally closed switch for cutting off a power supply of the electric starter when the force receiving component moves to an extreme position, a positioning component for locking the force receiving component when the force receiving component moves to the extreme position, and a first return component which enables the force receiving component to automatically returns to an original state when the force receiving component is unlocked. The main shaft is indirectly driven to rotate by the turning mechanism via a transmission mechanism or directly driven to rotate by the turning mechanism via a turning tool. An improvement is made to a structure of a traditional electric starter without affecting existing functions thereof, i.e., a function of manual turning is added. Therefore, a flywheel gear of a motor can be precisely positioned during maintenance so as to improve efficiency and eliminate potential safety hazards.

    • When an ECM activates as powered from a generator, a decision unit determines occurrence of instantaneous interruption and reactivation of the ECM, if engine speed detected by an engine speed sensor immediately after activation of the ECM is found to be not smaller than a predetermined number of rotation Y. On the other hand, if occurrence of the instantaneous interruption and reactivation is not determined, the ECM detects, using a maximum value detection unit, a maximum value of pressure in the intake pipe detected by a pressure sensor, within a predetermined range of crank angle after activation of the ECM, stores the maximum value into a memory for later use as the atmospheric pressure, and uses it for control of fuel injection by an injector.

    • One embodiment provides a recoil starter for starting an engine. The recoil starter includes: a starter case having a storage portion; a rope reel rotatably accommodated in the storage portion, a recoil rope being wound on the rope reel; a recoil spring interposed between the rope reel and the starter case within the storage portion; a cam portion rotatable concentrically with the rope reel and engageable with the engine; and a dust cover provided on an opening of the storage portion to cover the rope reel. The rope reel has concentric circular uneven portions formed on a surface thereof facing the engine, and the dust cover also has concentric circular uneven portions. Therefore, the circular uneven portions of the rope reel and the circular uneven portions of the dust cover fit with each other to provide a nest structure.

The force accumulation spiral spring is disposed on the opposite side of the engine with respect to the plate portion of the rope reel. The force accumulation spiral spring is arranged to accumulate a torque applied to the rope reel and transmit the torque to the transmitting member, first and second ends of the spring being fixed, respectively, to the rope reel and the transmitting member.

    • A starter device for an internal combustion engine (10) has an actuating device and an entrainer (24) can be coupled to the crankshaft (13) of the engine (10). The entrainer (24) and the actuating device are rotatably journalled about a rotational axis (14). The entrainer (24) and the actuating device are connected to each other via a damping spring (23). The damping spring (23) is connected with a first end (26) to the actuating device and with a second end (27) to the entrainer (24). The entrainer (24) and the actuating device have respective supports (21, 42). The damping spring (23) is mounted on the outer periphery of the two supports (21, 42). In the direction of the rotational axis (14), a disc (22) is mounted between the two supports (21, 42) in order to avoid the situation that the damping spring (23) can force itself into a gap between the two supports (21, 42) which gap can arise during operation.
