    • An adjustable vortex flame device includes a control head. The control head delimits an opening and includes a flow guiding mechanism including a plurality of vanes and a control mechanism delimiting a hole. The plurality of vanes is disposed along a circumference of the opening one after another, with two adjacent vanes including a spiral air passage formed therebetween. The hole has a diametrical size which varies with respect to different sizes of vortex flames of the adjustable vortex flame device. The hole corresponds to and is in communication with the opening. The hole has a smaller diametrical size than the opening. A hollow and transparent shield is disposed above the control head and adjacent to the control mechanism. The shield delimits a space in communication with the hole of the control mechanism.

    • A combustion cylinder structure for an oil burner capable of decreasing in the number of used parts to simplify its construction and assembling. A flame spreading cylinder arranged in an inner cylindrical member downwardly extends through a partition plate arranged in a lower end of the inner cylindrical member into a wick receiving cylinder structure. The flame spreading cylinder is concentratedly formed with a plurality of vent holes at a portion thereof in proximity to a flame spreading plate mounted on the cylinder. The partition plate is formed with a plurality of small through-holes and an inner top plate mounted on the inner cylindrical member is formed with a plurality of small through-holes. The flame spreading cylinder, outer top plate and inner top plate cooperate together to define a space to which air is supplied via the small through-holes of the partition plate and inner top plate.

    • The present invention provides methods and apparatus for controlling a flame. One embodiment comprises a reservoir for a flame-fueling liquid, a wick, and a collar surrounding the wick. The first end of the wick is within the reservoir and a flame-bearing end is above the first end. Flame-fueling liquid is supplied to the reservoir and is communicated up the wick to fuel a flame emanating from the flame-bearing end of the wick. The collar is slidable along a vertical axis between a first and second position. In the first position, the top of the collar is located above the flame-bearing end of the wick to block the flow of air from reaching the wick. In the second position, the top of the collar is located blow the flame-bearing end of the wick, such that it does not substantially block the flow of air from reaching the wick.
