    • A microprocessor controlled electronic capture combination action system for use in an electronic organ for selecting a predetermined combination of stops to define the organ voicing. The system includes a plurality of stop tabs for setting and resetting the stops, a plurality of pistons for setting a desired combination of stops to a predetermined condition, a random access memory for storing data associated with a selected combination of stops, a read only memory containing a permanently stored operating program incorporating a plurality of operating instructions, an indicator light associated with each of the stop tabs and a microprocessor responsive to the operating instructions. The stop tab and pistons are continually and sequentially scanned to detect the contact closures. Actuated stop tabs cause the associated stops to be selected and the indicator lights illuminated. Information corresponding to a selected combination of stops for a selected one of the pistons is stored in the random access memory and may be recalled at will by closing the appropriate piston. The recalled data is used to select the combination of stops and illuminate the associated indicator lights. The system also includes a manually operable crescendo shoe which may be used to actuate a plurality of predetermined combinations of the stops in response to designated positions of the shoe. In a preferred embodiment, a crescendo circuit is used to cause a delayed interrupt signal to the operating program to provide a count which is compared against stored values associated with particular stop combinations. The crescendo shoe also includes a circuit for adding hysteresis to the crescendo shoe position. The operating program incorporates a debounce routine for eliminating false contact closures caused by switch bounce in the stop tabs such that the switch contacts must remain in a particular state for a number of successive scans before the switch closure will be detected.

    • Apparatus for sequencing an electronic organ through a plurality of different combinations of tone settings utilizes an addressable memory to store each setting combination as a separate addressable word in which each bit of the word indicates the setting of one tone characteristic. The words are read out in predetermined sequence at times controlled by the musician, the bits of each word controlling the immediate setting of all the tone control switches. Any word in memory can be read out at any time on command of the musician independently of the sequencing to establish a selected preset status of the tone control switches. The automatic setting of any tone control switch can be manually overridden at any time and the corresponding bit in associated control word in memory changed accordingly.

    • The outlet opening of the air chest is provided with a sleeve for supporting the organ pipe externally of the chest and which acts as a valve seat for the flexible resilient diaphragm of the chest valve. The diaphragm forms one wall of an auxiliary chamber located beneath the sleeve. An electro-magnetic valve controls the communication of the auxiliary chamber to the atmosphere or the air under pressure in the chest. When the auxiliary chamber is in communication with the interior of the air chest the pressures on opposite sides of the diaphragm are equalized around the sleeve and the pressure differential between the atmospheric pressure in the sleeve and the air under pressure in the auxiliary chamber maintains the diaphragm in sealing engagement with the sleeve. When the auxiliary chamber is in communication with the atmosphere, the pressure differential acting on the diaphragm will move the diaphragm away from the sleeve allowing air under pressure to escape from the chest through the sleeve to the pipe of the organ. The chest valve is preferably mounted on the underside of the air chest externally thereof with the diaphragm exposed to the interior of the chest for cooperation with the sleeve.

The pallet valve comprises an elongated, generally flat, metallic body considerably longer than the opening and pivotally movable at one end about an axis substantially removed from the opening. A pair of laterally spaced, parallel flanges, coextensive with the valve body, depend from one face of the body and serve to reinforce and stiffen it. The other face of the body is provided with a cushion engageable with the area surrounding the opening for sealing the same.

    • A capture combination system for use in an electronic organ provides rapid reprogramming of the entire combination memory while permitting manual selection of desired stop combinations at any time. Desired stop combinations are selected for each piston and set into the working memory of the system. These combinations, upon command, are transferred from the working memory to a storage or external memory. A full combination of stop settings may be stored on the external memory by transfer from the internal memory, and a number of such external memories corresponding to a number of different full combinations of stop settings thus may be prepared and, subsequently, selectively presented to the system as desired. The combination settings from the external memory are transferred upon command into the internal working memory for establishing the desired combination of stop settings therein. Transfer into or out of the external memory requires but a few seconds. Whenever desired, the working memory may be altered to modify one or more stop combinations, whether set manually, or entered therein from the external memory and, in the latter case, while retaining the combinations recorded in the external memory.
