摘要： A reduced air leakage harmonica reed unit contains a reed plate and a plurality of reed sections. The plurality of reed sections is attached to the reed plate with a fastening mechanism and positioned within a body of the harmonica. The reed plate consists of a plate body and a plurality of receiving slots that traverse through the plate body. The plurality of receiving slots are aligned with a U-shaped channel from each of the plurality of reed sections. Thus, air that is drawn or blown travels through the U-shaped channel from the plurality of reed sections and through the plurality of receiving slots. Since the U-shaped channel is precisely cut, air leakage is minimized and high quality sound is produced by triggering a vibrating membrane.

The invention is a modified harmonica with specifically low-tuned reeds that produce frequencies not associated with normal musical performance that allow the user to generate a stream of controlled low frequency sound waves that break up congestion in the user's lungs and sinuses. The invention includes a pulmonary rehabilitation treatment using inspiratory and expiratory muscle training that encourages continued use of the pulmonary harmonica so that use of the device and diaphragmatic breathing become habitual through practice.

Each end of the elongate channel is open to permit the ingress and egress of air while playing. A microphone may be clipped to one or both open ends and positioned within the elongate channel. The cupping device isolates the harmonica sound so that it can be amplified at higher volumes without feedback or interference.
