摘要 310,160. Stringer, H. L. March 22, 1928. Winding - apparatus for clockwork includes a weight which is oscillated by vibrations to which the clockwork is subjected and which drives the winding arbor through cord and pulley mechanism constituting a unidirectional drive. The winding arbor b of the going-barrel is geared to the driving spindle e in the reduction ratio of 64 :1 by wheels d, f and intermediate spindle c. The driving weight g is held between two parallel plates h, pivoted at k to the fixed casing and supporting four pins n - - n'. The weight is supported by springs m attached to pins m on the plates h and to the top of the casing. A cord p fixed to pin n passes clockwise, Fig. 1, round pulley o fixed on spindle e and is connected through spring q to pin n . A second cord p passes from pin n clockwise round a second pulley o fixed to spindle e and to spring q and pin n . The arrangement is such that as the weight sinks cord p rotates spindle e anti-clockwise and cord p is ineffective; on the up-stroke of the weight the cord p becomes effective and drives spindle e, also anticlockwise. This gives a unidirectional drive for the arbor b. In a modification, the gearing c - - f is replaced by a worm and worm-wheel, the shaft e being in a plane parallel to the plates h. A handwinding key may be added. A single cord p or p may be used as in Specification 193,997, and the springs q , q may be blade springs. Over-winding, preventing. With the construction shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the spindles c and e are mounted between triangular plates r pivoting about the spindle b, Fig. 3. Thus when the spindle e drives, there is a tendency for pinion d to roll clockwise round the spur-wheel d. This is resisted by a spring s until the mainspring is fully wound and its resistance causes spring s to stretch. The plate r then pulls a rod t to the left so that its large end just fits a hole in the weight g and prevents the latter oscillating. Alternatively, to prevent overwinding a lever may be moved by the expanding mainspring to lock the weight against vibration or to disengage a clutch between the weight and the arbor b.
