The invention discloses a multi-agent-based traffic control method, which comprises the following steps that: a center stage is used for collecting traffic information data from intelligent traffic sub-systems and transmitting the traffic information data to a database; a traffic data analyzing and mining module is used for carrying out analysis and mining on the traffic information data, then judging the state of traffic flow and transmitting the state to a multi-control system cooperation module; the multi-control system cooperation module which stores control means and schemes under different states of the traffic flow is used for matching the corresponding control means and schemes for forming a cooperation control command according to the state of the traffic flow and issuing the cooperation control command to a hierarchical implementation module; the hierarchical implementation module is used for distributing the cooperation control command to field stage traffic controllers; and the traffic controllers are used for controlling field terminal equipment to work according to the received cooperation control command. The invention further discloses a multi-agent-based traffic control integrated system for implementing the method.
