The invention relates to an electric vehicle manual gearbox forward gear position judging method. The method includes allowing a vehicle controller to judge whether the vehicle is in the forward gear or not according to gearbox position signals firstly and then judge the combining state of a clutch according to clutch pedal signals; if the vehicle is in the forward gear and the clutch is combined completely, allowing the vehicle forward speed and the motor speed to be in direct ratio, allowing the vehicle controller to correct speed signals sent by an instrument cluster, then calculating theoretical motor speed corresponding to each forward gear, and comparing with current actual motor speed sent by a motor controller; if the speed deviation is in the specified range, judging the gearbox is in the gear; if the theoretical motor speed corresponding to each forward gear is not consistent with actual speed, judging the gear signals or clutch signals to be abnormal, and allowing the vehicle controller to record the failure and alarm. The method has the advantages that existing vehicle chassis state is maintained, and the manual gearbox is prevented from being added a gear sensor.
