A method for controlling discontinuous reception in a WTRU (wireless transmit/receive unit), a WTRU and an eNB are disclosed. The method includes the following steps in which the WTRUa receives DRX configuration including multiple DRX cycle length; the WTRU uses a shorter DRX cycle length among the multiple DRX cycle lengths to execute the DRX; if the shorter DRX cycle length initiates the DRX operation, the WTRU sets a WTRU timer which is associated with the time duration that the WTRU uses the shorter DRX cycle length to execute the DRX before switched to a longer DRX cycle length among the multiple DRX cycle lengths; the WTRU determines the WTRU is timeout; and in response to the timeout of the WTRU timer, the WTRU switches the operation using the longer DRX cycle length among the multiple DRX cycle lengths from the operation using the shorter DRX cycle length among the multiple DRX cycle lengths.
