The silencer comprises a silencing screen and a shell, wherein the silencing screen is in the shape of a hollow cylinder, and the silencing screen is wrapped with the shell. Silencing cotton is further arranged between the shell and the silencing screen. The shell, the silencing cotton and the silencing screen are arranged in parallel. The silencer further comprises installation pieces which are installed at the two ends of the silencing screen. An installation through hole is formed in the center of each installation piece. A cutting surface is arranged on the upper end face of each installation piece. The cutting surfaces are connected with the outer side faces of the installation pieces. Convex rings are arranged on the inner side faces of the installation pieces. The silencing screen abuts against the convex rings. Shell grooves which can clamp the shell are dug in the outer side faces of the installation pieces. The shell grooves are provided with openings which are located in the lower end faces of the installation pieces. The shell is made of composite materials. The air blower provided with the silencer is simple in structure; noise caused by a motor and noise generated by air are eliminated, the comprehensive performance of the silencer is improved, and accordingly the service life of the silencer is prolonged; the silencer is connected with the air blower more tightly, and the effect is better.
