The invention discloses a falling type fuse control system and a control method thereof and belongs to the field of power distribution network safety protection. The control system comprises an ARM core controller, a voltage sensing module, an overcurrent detection module, an electric falling type fuse and a power supply system. The ARM core controller is connected with an output end of the voltage sensing module through a built-in A/D conversion port. A corresponding port of the ARM core controller is connected with a communication end of the overcurrent detection module through an optical fiber. The ARM core controller is connected with an electric control input end of the electric falling type fuse through an I/O port. A power supply system supplies power to the ARM core controller and the electric falling type fuse. According to the control method, detection is carried out by adoption of the voltage sensing module and the overcurrent detection module, and the electric falling type fuse is triggered by a detection result. According to the method and the system, an upper level circuit breaker is ensured to be switched on successfully and moreover, fault points are located, thereby facilitating timely emergency maintenance of fault circuits by maintainers.
