The invention relates to the technical field of preparation of thin films or sheets, in particular to a polyvinyl alcohol membrane and a preparation method thereof as well as a polarizing film prepared by the polyvinyl alcohol membrane. A membrane preparing stock solution is prepared from the following raw materials: a plasticizer, a surfactant, an antioxidant and polyvinyl alcohol; any surface fluctuation height of the prepared polyvinyl alcohol membrane is smaller than or equal to 20nm; in addition, any areas of the polyvinyl alcohol membrane have identical surface morphology. The polarizing film is prepared by adopting the polyvinyl alcohol membrane, so that the membrane is not easy to break in the preparation process, and uniform tension and dyeing are ensured.
