A PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) fiber is prepared from PVA with polymerization degree being 1000-2500 and alcoholysis degree being 95(mol)%-99.9(mol)%, hydroformylation degree eta of the PVA fiber is 2%-35% (mol/mol), single-fiber linear density of the prepared PVA fiber is 1-5 dtex, and dry breaking strength is higher than or equal to 4.0 cN/dtex. The PVA fiber is used for treating flowback fracturing fluid and can effectively remove impurities such as hydrophobic components, various floating objects, metal and the like in the flowback fracturing fluid, thereby facilitating purification and reuse of the flowback fracturing fluid of an oil and gas field, saving water resources and reducing environmental damage and pollution caused by a fracturing technology of the oil and gas field; besides, the PVA fiber is a degradable and non-toxic product and cannot cause new environmental pollution when used for treatment of the flowback fracturing fluid of the oil and gas field. A preparation method is simple and suitable for industrial production.
