The invention relates to a flame retardant resin composition. The composition comprises: a. a thermoplastic resin and b. a linear polysiloxane comprising at least 2 siloxy units including at least 2 terminal units, wherein at least one terminal unit bears at least one hydroxyl group directly bonded to the Si atom of the terminal unit, and at least one siloxy unit bears at least one aromatic groupdirectly bonded to the Si atom of the unit. The thermoplastic resin is preferably based on an aromatic containing polymer. The composition is able to form a transparent material when solidified for example by cooling at room temperature.
