The present invention relates to a light variator and a method for assembling the light variator. The light variator (1) comprises a housing (2) and at least two electronic components or electronic component groups (4a, 4b), wherein each electronic component or electronic component group (4a, 4b) is provided with an outer packaging envelope (6). The method comprises the following steps: arrangingand fixing the first electronic component or electronic component group (4a) inside the housing (2), wherein the first electronic component or electronic component group (4a) is a component or component group which generate heat when electrically supplied; arranging the second electronic component or electronic component group (4b) inside the housing (2) so that the outer packaging envelopes (6) of the first and second components or component groups (4a, 4b) are in contact with each other, and that the first and second components or component groups(4a, 4b) form a stack of electronic components or electronic component groups; and fixing the second electronic component or tronic component group (4b) in the housing (2).
