A heater assembly in or for a liquid heating apparatus comprises a thick film heater (200) and a control (2) for the heater (200). The heater (200) has a resistive heating track (204) having an electrical contact (206, 208) through which electrical energy may be supplied to the track (204). The control (2) has a movable electrical contact (116, 118) which engages with the track contact (206, 208), and which, upon operation of the control (2), moves out of engagement with the track contact (206, 208) to interrupt the electrical supply to the heating track (204).
