The invention discloses a method of configuring network addresses of communication units in device in communication field, selecting a communication unit in each system to act as central control unit to take charge of allocating network addresses of other communication units; the form of each network address contains number of the local system and by adopting different system numbers, differentiating the network addresses of communication units of different systems; the central control unit actively sends address information to other communication units which do not access to the network, where the communication unit receives the address information and then sets its own network address according to the requirement. It is completely convenient to manage media access control layer address generating algorithm and upgrade the software, can more effectively use address space. And the whole operating course cannot generate broadcast information to cause added network flow overhead, especially applied to applications which have very high requirement on the reliability, like communication devices, ect.
