    • An improved vacuum pump mechanism is described in which an intersecting solid or perforated element is arranged to intersect a channel member. Relative movement of the intersecting solid or perforated element and channel member causes gas molecules to be urged from inlet to an outlet of the pump. Gas molecules are constrained within the channel member and interaction of the gas molecules with the flat and smooth surfaces of the intersecting solid or perforated member influence momentum of the gas molecules so that they are directed towards the outlet. In one embodiment, the channel member is formed as a helix and the intersecting solid or perforated elements are disk-shaped. An alternative embodiment is provided having the channel member configured as a spiral and the perforated elements as cylindrical skirts. The pump provides significant improvements in pump capacity, reduced power consumption and size of pump.

    • The present invention provides a vacuum pump (10) which comprises a turbo- molecular pumping mechanism (12) in series with a Siegbahn pumping mechanism (14). A first pump inlet (16) is provided through which gas can pass through both the turbo- molecular pumping mechanism and the Siegbahn pumping mechanism. Additionally, an inter-stage (inlet18) is provided through which gas can enter the pump at a location between the turbo-molecular pumping mechanism and the Siegbahn pumping mechanism and pass only through the Siegbahn pumping mechanism. There are flow channels (52, 62) in a first plurality of stages (32, 34) of the Siegbahn pumping mechanism which are in fluid communication with the inter-stage inlet (18) and gas entering the pump through the inter- stage inlet is pumped in parallel along said flow channels.

    • A double-drag molecular pump which has simple structure, is easily mass produced, and can enhance the effective pumped rate is disclosed. The double-drag molecular pump includes a helical stationary impeller(1) and a dynamic seal stage(8) fixedly provided at a pump casing(3), and a movable impeller(2) fixedly provided at a rotor(22), wherein said movable impeller(2), stationary impeller(1) and dynamic seal stage(8) are alternatively arranged each other at a certain gap, an air inlet(31) and an air outlet(32) are correspondingly arranged on the pump casing(3), a motor(5) is mounted on one side of a rotary shaft(21), at the two ends of which are mounted an end covers(33), respectively, it is characterized in that a plurality of parallel-connected and serial-connected stationary impellers(1) are commonly mounted on the same frame (11)which consists of a fixed ring(34) and a brace strut(35), a plurality of blades (36)for the stationary impellers are provided on the fixed surfaces of the brace struts(35); no fixed ring is mounted on the inner and outer side of the blades for the stationary impellers. The double-drag molecular pump according to the present invention can be concentrically mounted with other molecular pump or rotary mechanical vacuum pump to form a compound vacuum pump with better operation performance. The double-drag molecular pump according to the present invention can be applied to a variety of molecular pumps and rotary mechanical vacuum pumps.
