    • A tool (100) is provided for use in uncapping a plurality of linearly-oriented, spaced-apart tubes; the tubes capped with a unitary closure device comprising a plurality of spaced-apart, linearly-oriented alternating caps and openings, each cap having a cap upper surface and being connected to at least one adjacent cap by at least two connecting structures, each of the at least two connecting structures having a connecting structure upper surface and a connecting structure lower surface, the at least two connecting structures and two adjacent caps forming a boundary of an opening. The tool comprises a body (30) having first portion (42) for engagement by a user and a second portion comprising a base (52) and a plurality of spaced-apart projections (60) extending there-from. Each projection is configured for releasably engaging one of the openings in the unitary closure device. Optionally, the first portion is configured in a non-coplanar relationship with respect to the second portion. Methods of use are also provided.

    • The method consists in: a) screwing a spherical impact part (16) onto the body of the cork so as to extend it axially; b) orienting and holding the bottle (14) in a predetermined position such that the bottle extends below a reference level (18), the impact part (16) emerging above said level; and c) striking the impact part with a striker surface (22) situated at the end of the arm of a striker accessory (24), e.g. a golf club. This produces a sudden force on the cork of amplitude that is sufficient to forcibly expel the cork solely by the fact of striking against the impact part. The device further comprises a podium (10) defining the reference level (18) and means (30) for orienting and holding the bottle (14) in a predetermined position which may be vertical or inclined.

    • A cork removal apparatus utilizes a rack and pinion mechanism and conventional corkscrew assembly to remove a cork from the neck of a bottle. The apparatus includes a yoke for retaining a handle portion of the corkscrew assembly and a retainer for retaining and positioning the openable end of the bottle with the mechanism. The rack and pinion mechanism is movable towards the retainer, and into position with the bottleneck and corkscrew assembly screwed into the cork thereof for mounting of the handle into the yoke, and away from the retainer, to pull the cork out of the bottle. A specially configured insert used with the retainer enables the apparatus to adapt to various bottle geometries and open a variety of bottle sizes and shapes.

    • The Champagne Bottle Opener, a hand manipulable device is described for removing mushroom-shaped stoppers from sparkling beverage bottles. It includes a pair of bifurcated jaws and opposing handles about a common pivot wherein each jaw contains improvements over prior art, improvements that enable the device to function more effectively for the wide dimensional variances in bottle and cork diameters commonly found in the marketplace. The opposing handles contain improvements as well permitting the device to be operated more easily and safely. Also included in the present invention are features that generate a tactile “snap” when the device is properly inserted about the bottle, and provide improved means for anchoring the tool when engaging in the extraction of any mushroom-shaped stopper.

    • A device for removing a rubber stopper from a test tube is mountable to an upright wall, has a generally horizontal splash guard, and a lower plate spaced parallel to and below the splash guard. The opposing edges extend inwardly to adjoin an opening having a diameter significantly larger than that of the stopper flange.

The remover features an engaging assembly for frictionally engaging a stopper while the rotating drive rotates in only one direction, the engaging assembly comprising an annular ring and extending from the inside of the ring, a plurality of spikes terminating in points disposed generally in an annular surface inside of the ring and constructed to engage a stopper, the spikes being mounted on the ring so as to be non-radially aligned. The result is that the spikes positively grip the stopper only if the ring is rotated in the one direction, and slip off the stopper when the rotating drive rotates in a direction opposite to the one direction.
