    • An ultrasonic sensor device includes a substrate, a piezoelectric vibrator, and a Q-factor adjuster. The piezoelectric vibrator includes a pair of detection electrodes that face each other in a thickness direction of the substrate and a piezoelectric body interposed between the electrodes. The piezoelectric vibrator provides a membrane structure which is formed on a surface of the substrate and has rigidity lower than that of a remaining portion of the substrate. An ultrasonic wave is transmitted by the piezoelectric vibrator, and its reflected wave is received by the same piezoelectric vibrator. The Q-factor adjuster adjusts a Q-factor of the piezoelectric vibrator so that the Q-factor can be larger during a transmission period where the piezoelectric vibrator transmits the ultrasonic wave than during a reception period where the piezoelectric vibrator receives the ultrasonic wave.

    • The present invention provides a DNA fragment exhibiting a potent promoter activity when used in the yeast. The present invention relates to a DNA fragment possessing a transcription promoter activity of the yeast, said DNA fragment having a whole of the DNA sequence shown by SEQ ID NO: 1 or a portion of said DNA sequence inclusive of its 3′-end, or having a DNA sequence which is hybridizable to a sequence complementary to a whole of the DNA sequence shown by SEQ ID NO: 1 or to a portion of said DNA sequence inclusive of its 3′-end and maintains the transcription promoter activity of said whole or portion of the DNA sequence shown by SEQ ID NO: 1; an expression plasmid containing a recombinant DNA fragment comprising said DNA fragment and a gene coding for a heterologous protein positioned downstream of said DNA sequence; a host cell transformed with said recombinant DNA fragment or said expression plasmid; and a method for preparing a heterologous protein which comprises culturing said host cell and recovering the heterologous protein from the culture. According to the present invention, a potent promoter usable in a heterologous gene expression system with the yeast as a host is provided.

    • An angular rate sensor includes a base member serving as a base, an angular rate sensing element having a vibrating member, a wiring member having a flexible, electrical insulating tape portion and a electrical wire portion. The wiring member has end portions fixed to the base member and a middle portion positioned between the end portions. The middle portion is separated from the base member and the sensing element is mounted to the middle portion. Thus, due to an elasticity of the wiring member, the sensing element can be isolated from an external vibration.
