CONSTITUTION: A flexible body 50 is provided with adjacent parts in both the axial and radial directions. At the time of transmitting torque, the parts elastically rotate against each other and the relative rotation between the parts is converted into the amplified axial displacement of a ring 5 to be detected through an elastically displaced arm. The axial displacement is measured as the amount of transmitted torque. The arm is formed in the form of a fork and the fork tines 40a and 41a of the arm are respectively joined with the parts of the flexible body 50. The stem 43a of the fork is joined with the ring 5 to be detected. The flexible body 50, arm, and ring 5 are formed as punched members and at least the arm is additionally embossed. In addition, the arm is joined to the relatively rotating parts and ring 5.

The sprags 4 are energized in the clutch engaging direction by torsion spring(s) arranged swingably and perform swinging motions acting in the clutch disengagement direction against the spring energization under the action of the centrifugal force, and at least two guide surfaces 5c and 5d are combined at the ends in the axial direction for each sprag 4. The guide surfaces makes guidance while they act on the opposing end peripheral regions of the sprag 4, and each guide surface has at least a missing part in the radial inside. The guide surfaces 5c and 5d are formed integrally on the mutually confronting inner side faces of the ring plates 1 and 2 by their respective recesses.
