    • An improved transcutaneous energy transfer (TET) device comprises a primary winding for placement on or near a skin surface, and a secondary winding for implantation under said skin surface. A field effect transistor (FET) is arranged to switch said primary coil across an external DC power supply. A tuning capacitor is linked to said primary coil whereby said primary coil, when said FET is turned off, will resonate at its natural frequency thereby compensating for drift in component values and reducing power transfer sensitivity to component drift. In an alternative aspect of the invention, a bidirectional communications link is provided for the transfer of data across a boundary layer by infrared signals. A plurality of transmitters are arranged in a circular pattern on one side of the boundary layer, whereas a receiver is positioned within the circular pattern along the opposite side of the boundary layer.

    • A disposable garment or diaper including a laminate and a hook and loop fastener for fastening together portions of the laminate to secure the diaper to an individual. The fastener includes a loop fastener portion adjacent a first end of the laminate comprising a multiplicity of loops, a pair of flexible elongate polymeric tab assemblies having first end portions attached at opposite sides to the laminate adjacent a second end of the laminate and having distal end portions unattached to the laminate, and hook fastener portions at the distal end portions of the tab assemblies comprising a plurality of projecting hook members adapted to make releasable engagement with the loops. The tab assemblies include a layer of pressure sensitive adhesive on the distal end portions adjacent the hook fastener portion which can, after the diaper has been soiled and removed from the individual, be used for securing the soiled diaper in a rolled or folded condition surrounding the soiled portion of the diaper to facilitate its disposal by engagement of the layer of pressure sensitive adhesive with the laminate.

A porous packing inside the reservoir continuously wets the inside of the reservoir with the animal-treating composition so that the composition can continuously permeate through the membrane to the outer surface of the reservoir. A porous sheath in contact with the outer surface of the reservoir continuously conducts the composition away from the membrane and continuously deposits the composition onto the surface of the animal. The device is particularly useful for controlling horn flies on range animals, such as cattle.

    • An interspinous process spacer insertion device that positions an interspinous process spacer between the spinous process of adjacent vertebrae in a minimally invasive percutaneous surgical procedure. The device includes a trocar rod that extends through a cannulated sleeve. The spacer is attached to the end of the cannulated sleeve, where a trocar tip of the trocar rod extends through the spacer. The trocar rod is moved through the cannulated sleeve and an incision in the patient, and is positioned between the spinous process of the vertebra to align the device. The cannulated sleeve is then moved down the trocar rod so that the spacer slides between the spinous process, and the trocar rod is then withdrawn from the patient. The spacer is then rotated so that it locks behind the spinous process, and the cannulated sleeve is detached from the spacer and removed from the patient.
