    • A high quality, relatively inexpensive rotary scanner provides both transmission and reflection scanning of documents mounted on a rotary drum. The drum translates with respect to an imaging lens located adjacent the drum and on the exterior thereof. A first illuminating element surrounding the imaging lens illuminates the document on the drum for reflection scanning; a second illuminating element mounted on a cantilevered arm extending along the axis of the drum illuminates the document for transmission scanning. Focusing of the image is performed either automatically or under the control of the user. A high resolution and wide dynamic range is provided by a set of photomultiplier tubes which receive light from the imaging lens by way of an aperture wheel which provides apertures of selectable size in accordance with the desired resolution. User replaceable lamp modules allow the precise positioning of high intensity replacement lamps without need for a technician.

    • A solid ink delivery system for supplying sticks of solid ink to a ink jet printer is disclosed. The solid ink delivery system includes a delivery assembly for each color ink stick supplied to the printer. Each delivery assembly includes a tube assembly where the ink sticks are stacked prior to their delivery to the printer. A triggerable ink stick feed assembly is provided for normally holding the in sticks in place. When triggered, the ink stick feed assembly releases the bottommost ink stick or sticks to an opening in the printer adapted to receive them, and restricts the movement of the above stacked ink sticks. The solid ink delivery system is adapted for use with a moving print head having a number of reservoir openings each adapted to receive ink sticks of a different color. A positioning means aligns the print head so the reservoir openings are under the tube assemblies that supply them with the appropriate color ink. Registration assemblies inhibit the triggering of the ink stick feed assemblies unless a reservoir opening for the color ink stick they supply is properly aligned.

    • A drum-shaped cash drop box rotatable about a pin coincident with its central axis includes a substantially U-shaped rotatable handle. The drum has a plurality of compartments. Insertion slots arranged at spaced intervals about the drum cylindrical periphery, each communicating with an associated compartment. Swingable doors arranged along one flat side wall of the drum respectively lockingly seal and unseal access openings, for gaining access to the compartments. The drop box is insertable into a parallelepiped shaped sleeve, having one vertical side opening. Guides in the sleeve interior limit the penetration depth of the drop box into the sleeve and align the handle for locking. The pin of a lockable detent moves into an opening in one arm of the handle to lock the drop box within the sleeve while permitting free rotation thereof. The top surface of the sleeve is provided with a common insertion opening and the drop box is rotatable to selectively align the drop box insertion openings therewith. Shutter assemblies provided in each compartment include a shutter biased to seal its associated insertion opening. A latch assembly receives a projection on its associated shutter plate to lock the shutter plate in a position displaced from the associated insertion opening. A lockable detent mounted upon the sleeve includes a pin movable through an elongated opening in the sleeve for unlatching the latch assembly, the shutter being held in the latched position by the pin until release.

    • Profiles hold cache settings externally from a requesting resource. The external cache settings stored within a profile may be associated with one or more resources. This allows the external cache settings for a group of resources to be managed from one location rather than having to change the internal cache settings for each resource. When a resource is processed by the server, the external cache settings are obtained from a cache profile and applied to the requesting resource. The external cache settings may also be merged with any internal resource settings. As a result of merging the settings some of the external cache settings and/or some of the internal cache settings may be overridden.
