摘要： The lighting system for an aircraft cabin includes multiple illuminating units for distribution about a cabin. Each illuminating unit includes at least one variable light source providing light of a known characteristic and that is energizeable independently of other illuminating units. A controller controls energization of the illuminating units by way of dimming and switching units associated respectively with the illuminating units. The controller is operable to create different predetermined combinations of energizations of the illuminating units so that a desired lighting scene is created within the cabin by the energized illuminating units. The controller is arranged to effect a gradual transition to the energizations of the illuminating units when changing from one predetermined combination to another. As a result, there is a corresponding gradual change between scenes created in the cabin.

摘要： A light system for an interior space of a motor vehicle comprises a plurality of function groups, each comprising a plurality of light-creation units (LE). Each light creation unit has an electrically activated and deactivated light source (LQ) and a reflector (R) for concentrating light from the light source. At least one light conductor (LL) is associated with each light creation unit with its first end being coupled to the light creation unit for transmitting concentrated light, the light conductor including a plurality of flexible individual light conductors (EL), and there being a light emitting unit (E) at a second end of the light conductor for illuminating a surface. The light sources of a single function group are simultaneously activated and deactivated. The light-creation units are spatially distributed in the motor vehicle so as to reduce the lengths of the light conductors. The light system has at least one entering and exiting illumination function group and a orientation illumination function group.

摘要： A vanity mirror assembly includes a relatively thin panel which can slide out from a vehicle support housing. The panel supports a mirror illuminated by a fiber-optic lighting assembly. The fiber-optic lighting assembly comprises a light source which is fixedly positioned within a vehicle housing and to which at least one or more fiber-optic cables are optically coupled and extend to the panel for directing illumination therefrom. The fiber-optic cables have a length and are flexible to allow the panel to be moved from a stored position within the vehicle housing to an extended use position. Also in the preferred embodiment of the invention, the widened ends of the fiber-optic cables have a rectangular surface textured to direct illumination outwardly in a direction orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the fiber-optic cables.

摘要： A light-transmission device includes an elongated cylindrical member bounding an internal passage and having an open end and an opposite end which defines a first socket, and a light source received in the internal passage and which extends from the open end towards the opposite end of the elongated cylindrical member. The device further includes a cable terminal which tightly surrounds a plurality of light-conductive cables. The ends of the cables are trimmed and maintained in a plane at a light-impinging end of the terminal. The cable terminal and the elongated cylindrical member are connected together by a connecting member which has an end defining a second socket which receives the light-impinging end of the cable terminal and an opposite end having a plurality of engaging portions which extend into and engage the first socket.
