    • A lighting system using piped light is provided for the cargo space of a truck. A light source mounted on the truck body is energized by the truck electrical system through a switch in the cab. Plural lighting fixtures are mounted to the roof of the truck body for illuminating the cargo space. Each lighting fixture receives light which is piped through a separate light pipe from the source to the fixture. There are two sets of lighting fixtures each of which is disposed in a linear array extending along a line from the front to the rear of the truck body. The light pipes for one set of lighting fixtures are all disposed in a first enclosure and the light pipes for the other set of lighting fixtures are all disposed within a second enclosure. Certain sections of the enclosures are provided with a transparent lens and certain light pipes within the enclosures emit side light through the lens. A lighting fixture at the rear door of the truck body is provided with an optical switch for turning the lighting fixture on or off.

    • A gauge mounted on one side of a face plate by mounting ears drives a light conducting pointer on the other side via a spindle extending through a hole in the plate, and has terminal pins coupled to a circuit board. An LED holder has a transverse bridge extending across the gauge and has mounting ears also secured to the face plate. The holder supports an LED in the hole adjacent the spindle for directly illuminating the pointer. The holder has legs which extend toward the circuit board and contain terminal pins coupled at one end to the board. LED leads are connected to the other end of the terminal pins. Alternatively, the terminal pins are omitted and rigid LED leads extend down the legs to directly couple to the circuit board. The pointer is illuminated with different colors in different ranges of movement by using LEDs of different colors of light emission and positioned to selectively light the pointer.

    • In an illuminated regulating device for operating a ventilation arrangement or the like in a motor vehicle, in the vicinity of a regulating wheel (2, 3) rotatable about its axis are provided several light outlets (13b, 14b) arranged stationarily and at the circumference of the regulating wheel is provided a movable light outlet (11a, 12a). The light outlets (11a, 12a, 13b, 14b) are formed by inserts of clear, rigid plastic and are connected to a common light source (16, 17) by light conducting inserts (11, 12, 13, 14). All stationary light outlets (13b, 14b) are formed at the ends of arms (13a, 14a) of a single-piece light conducting insert (13, 14) with total internal reflection made of clear, rigid plastic, which extends from the light source (16, 17) to the light outlets (13b, 14b). This light conducting insert (13, 14) is provided with a lateral light outlet surface (13d, 14 d) in the region of the axis of rotation (A) of the regulating wheel (2, 3). In the regulating wheel (2, 3) is provided a single-piece light conducting insert (11, 12) with total internal reflection made of clear, rigid plastic, which extends from the movable light outlet (11a, 12a) to the region of the axis of rotation (A), at the radially outer end of which is formed the light outlet (11a, 12a) and at the radially inner end of which is provided a light inlet surface (11b, 12b) extending in a radial plane and opposite the light outlet surface (13d, 14d).

    • An integrated lighting system designed to evenly illuminate the instruments, switches, warning placards and checklists includes a fiber-optic ribbons held in place and adhered to one or more of three specially designed bezels. A first embodiment includes a bezel which fits over, for example, a relatively smaller 21/4 inch standard size instrument. A second embodiment of the bezel fits over a standard size 31/8 inch instrument having no adjusting knobs which must be avoided. A third embodiment includes a bezel fits the 31/8 inch instrument with the cut-out for adjusting knobs. A fourth embodiment includes a channel support for mounting a printed label and which supports the label and accommodates fiber tape between the channel support and printed label.
