    • The method can be carried out by a machine that includes a forming station (5) in which there are a pressing plate (9) and a stationary plate (11). The pressing plate features a series of recesses (10) designed to give shape to the receptacles of the band (1), while the stationary plate has holes (12) positioned so as to match the recesses (10). Compressed air flows through the holes (12) to form the transverse rows of receptacles in the band, (1) with the help of the recesses (10). The pressing plate has also pinholes (20) which connect the recesses (10) with channels (21) which open on a duct (25) leading to the outside. The method includes measuring the pressure P 0 present in a section close to the end (25a) of the duct (25), in time relation with completition of the forming operation, and comparing the outcome with a pre-determined value.
