摘要： A paper feed mechanism includes a platen rotatably mounted on a frame and a friction feed having a support which rotatably supports a roller, the support being movable between an operable position in which the roller is in biasing engagement with the platen and a non-operable positon in which the roller is not biased toward said platen. A spring biasingly urges the support in its operable position in which the roller is in biasing engagement with the platen. A cam is rotatably mounted on the frame and rotatable between a first cam position which moves the support to its non-operable position and a second cam position which permits the support to be moved to its operable position by the spring, whereby the cam controls the operability of the friction feed.

摘要： A paper feed roll assembly for a printer or typewriter having a platen is described. The assembly is fabricated in such a way as to allow simple insertion into the printer or typewriter and the retention of the assembly in a proper position within the typewriter by the engagement of hooks (50) appended to the paper deflector (42, 54) with a paper release bail. Movement of paper release bail (14, 18) will compress a spring (28) which engages roll axle supports (20) and fixed rail (10), allowing the paper deflector (42, 54) and feed rolls (38) to with withdrawn from the periphery of the platen. The device allows automated assembly of the paper feed roll assembly into a machine and, in addition, provides complete self-alignment capability for the rolls (38) with respect to the periphery of the platen.

摘要： A paper feed roll assembly is disclosed which is pivotally mounted on a central point with three degrees of freedom of movement. The feed rolls are engageable with the periphery of the platen. Additionally, the support for the paper feed rolls is deflectable about the central point by a feed roll release member to effect the withdrawal of the feed rolls from the periphery of the platen to enhance paper insertion and removal. The pivot point support provides for freedom of movement in the three necessary degrees of freedom to allow equilization of feed roll force against the platen and for alignment of the feed rolls with the periphery of the platen to insure proper paper feed. The feed roll truck frame, by virtue of its pivotal mounting, may be deflected downward to permit release or insertion of the paper. A deflection means or eccentric bar is disclosed for deflecting the truck member away from the periphery of the platen against the force of the pivot support acting toward the platen.
