摘要： The present invention pertains to a surgical drape (10) for use during a medical procedure on a shoulder of a patient when the patient is in the so-called "beach chair" or Fowlers position. The surgical drape (10) is a one-piece design and has a base panel (12) defining a fenestration (14) which is sealable around the patient's shoulder. Opposing right and left panels (16, 18) extend from the base panel (12) away from the fenestration (14), and a slit (20) extends from a peripheral edge of the drape to the fenestration between the right and left panels. Right and left flaps extend from the right and left panels, overlap each other, and cover the slit. A fluid control pouch surrounds at least part of the fenestration. The surgical drape can be used on either the right or left shoulder of the patient and covers the entire patient. The present invention also pertains to a method of draping a patient with the surgical drape.

摘要： A malleable vaginal speculum (20) is manually shaped to dilate the inner contour of a vagina sufficiently to allow manipulation of endoscopic surgical instruments within the vagina. The malleable vaginal speculum (20) may optionally be coupled with a funnel, apron and splash shield to function as a fluid collector for use during endoscopic surgery. A portion of the splash shield is placed under the patient while the remainder extends to a perforated portion of the funnel wall. Fluid draining into the funnel through its mouth and through the perforated wall is collected in a container where its volume is measured. By measuring the volume of irrigation fluid dispensed during the surgery and subtracting the measured fluid volume collected, an estimate of the amount of irrigation fluid absorbed by the patient during the surgery is obtained.

摘要： An irrigation dressing for deep wounds comprises an adhesive, substantially liquid- and air-impermeable plate (1) having at least one perforation (6, 7) for supplying and sucking off liquid, and for pressure equalisation. 摘要： A sterile craniotomy drape and method of simultaneously draping a sterile barrier over a patient and a navigation tracker prior to performing a craniotomy procedure are provided. The sterile craniotomy drape has a flexible, sterile wall with opposite edges extending lengthwise between opposite ends. The wall is sized to substantially cover a patient lying on a patient support surface of an operating table. The wall has a cranial region adapted to be attached to the patients head and at least one opening adjacent the cranial region. A flexible, tubular sterile sleeve has an open end attached to the wall about the at least one opening. The sleeve extends away from the wall to a free end for receipt of a navigation tracker therein.

摘要： The present invention provides medical instruments for handling fluids. In a first aspect of the invention, there is provided an obstetrical instrument for both piercing the foetal membranes during parturition and collection the released amniotic fluid. This obstetrical instrument has a membrane-contacting member sized and shaped to adhere to the foetal membrane, and piercing tip disposed within this membrane contacting member. A harvesting container is connected to the membrane contacting member and is operable between collapsed and extended positions to create a suction which will draw the amniotic membranes in contact with the piercing tips, and draw the released amniotic fluid for collection within the container. According to another aspect, a similar container may also be used as a syringe container.
