    • A motor driven compressor having a motor for driving a compression mechanism includes a connecting portion for connecting between an external terminal for supplying electricity to the motor and a wire end portion of a stator of the motor. The connecting portion is located above the motor and the compression mechanism. Further, the connecting portion is formed on the stator housing which accommodates the motor and the stator. The connecting portion is disposed in a hollow projection portion, which extends upward from the housing. Accordingly, the motor driven compressor which is readily manufactured, may avoid a leakage current by insulating a terminal portion of the motor from the housing of compressor.

    • Scroll compressors (1) may include a housing (2, 3) having an inlet port (3a) and an outlet port (3b). A drive scroll (10) may be rotatably disposed within the housing and may have a rotational axis. A driven scroll (20) may be rotatably disposed within the housing and may have a rotational axis. The driven scroll rotational axis preferably is offset to the drive scroll rotational axis. Further, at least one compression chamber (30) is preferably defined between the drive scroll and the driven scroll. A first bearing (14) may rotatably support the drive scroll in a cantilever manner and a second bearing (24, 115) may rotatably support the driven scroll in a cantilever manner. A transmission (31, 131, 231 and 331) or other device may be provided to rotate the drive scroll in synchronism with the driven scroll.

    • A scroll mounting member for mounting a drive scroll therein is secured to a left end of a drive shaft coupled to a motor. A rotary bearing is fitted on the outer periphery of the scroll mounting member, and its outer periphery is secured to a scroll housing. The scroll mounting member is disposed for rotation in the scroll housing and is secured to the drive shaft. A bearing retainer for holding the rotary bearing is mounted by bolts via a spring in a mounting portion of the scroll housing such that the rotary bearing is adjustable in the thrust direction at the scroll housing. By turning the bolts, the rotary bearing is advanced or retreated in the thrust direction via the bearing retainer or the bearing retainer and a spring which, together with the bolts, provide adjustment. A self-lubricating sleeve seal is axially slidably fitted in an end portion of a rotation of driven scroll mounting member. A seal plate of a mirror-finished hard material is secured to a seal retainer on the cylindrical end side of the sleeve seal. The sleeve seal is pushed against the seal plate by the fluid pressure so that its end is in rotating and sealing contact with the seal.

Apertures are provided in the enclosure member to permit fluid flow into the space enclosed by the enclosure device, with vanes disposed adjacent the apertures to force fluid into the enclosed space during rotation of the scroll wraps. Fluid thus forced into the enclosed space is precharged prior to entering the scroll wraps, being at higher pressure than fluid exterior the enclosed space, improving the operating efficiency of the scroll apparatus.

    • A scroll compressor incorporates an electric motor unit and a scroll compressor unit in a sealed container. The scroll compressor unit has a frame having a bearing at the center thereof, a first scroll driven by the electric motor unit having an end plate and a wrap of an involute curve projecting from the end plate, and a second scroll having an end plate and a wrap of an involute curve projecting from the end plate of the second scroll provided in a juxtaposed relation with the first scroll so that the wraps of the two scrolls are fitted closely together to form a plurality of compression spaces. A driving device rotates the second scroll in the same direction as the first scroll. The driving device has a driving pin disposed on an outer circumference of either the first or second scroll and a guide groove extending in a radial direction of the other of the first or second scroll for receiving the driving pin in such a manner that a circle orbit of an outer circumference of the guide groove is located outside a circle orbit of a center of the driving pin. By this construction, the first scroll driven by the electric motor unit and the second scroll in confronting engagement with the first scroll are rotated in the same direction by a single driving device for compression.
