摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing synthetic quartz glass that can prevent unfixed floating soot from adhering to a melt growth face of an ingot and prevent bubbles from generating in the growing quartz glass and reduce the flow rate of oxygen and hydrogen gases supplied from a burner and thus improve energy efficiency. SOLUTION: A raw material to form quartz glass is supplied into a high-temperature flame gas region formed by the burner. The synthetic quartz glass is manufactured from the quartz soot that is generated from the raw material to form quartz glass. A surrounding jacket to surround both the whole burner and a growth part of the synthetic quartz glass as well as a gas-exhausting tunnel to cover the surrounding jacket and to surround both the downstream part of the high-temperature flame gas region and the growth part of the synthetic quartz glass are installed. A gas for discharging the floating soot flows through the surrounding jacket and the gas-exhausting tunnel in the direction of discharging the floating soot. SOLUTION: The synthetic quartz glass production device comprises: the ingot synthesis part 3 with a burner and a target disposed therein; the exhaust part 5 provided below the ingot synthesis part 3 and exhausting gas to the outside; a differential pressure sensor 14 provided at the exhaust part 5 and measuring the pressure in the furnace and the pressure at the outside of the furnace; an exhaust pipe 10 connected to an exhaust port formed at the exhaust part; an open air introduction pipe 11 connected to the exhaust pipe; and a turning valve 12 controlling the opening degree of the open air introduction pipe, wherein the opening degree of the turning valve 12 is controlled in such a manner that the differential pressure in the differential pressure sensor 14 is made constant, and the distribution to the exhaust amount from the exhaust part 5 and to the introduction amount of the open air from the open air introduction pipe 11 is made variable without changing the total exhaust amount.
