[Also in Division C3] Wool and cellulosic fibrous materials are simultaneously dyed by treating in a dyebath containing a wool dye, a substantive cotton dye, hexamethylene-tetramine and a fibreaffinic wool resisting agent which is a condensation product of formaldehyde with a mixture of a sulphone containing two monocyclic benzene residues bound to the -SO 2 - group and which are substituted by hydroxyl groups and a monocyclic hydroxybenzene sulphonic acid, the dyebath being acidic at least at the start of the process. The molecular ratio of sulphone to hydroxybenezene sulphonic acid is preferably 40:60 to 85:15. Specified sulphones are 4,4'-dihydroxydiphenylsulphone, 4, 2'-dihydroxydiphenylsulphone, 4,4'-dihydroxy- 3-methyldiphenylsulphone, 4,4'-dihydroxy-diphenylsulphone-3-sulphonic acid, 4,4'-dihydroxy-3,3'-dimethyldiphenylsulphone, hydroxybenzene sulphonic acids specified are, 1- hydroxybenzene-4-sulphonic acid, cresolsulphonic acids and 1-hydroxy-2-methylbenzene- 4-sulphonic acid. Wool dyes include acid and metal complex dyes. Tone-in-tone and twotone effects are obtainable by the dyeing process.
