摘要： 11,161. Marchus, A. S. May 13. Bedsteads.-A secret or combination bedstead of the wardrobe type comprises a rear portion within which the bed is folded when not in use, and a front portion in the form of a wardrobe, bookcase, &c. in two parts which are adapted to be slid apart to allow the bed to be withdrawn for use. The bed b is pivoted on a rod c within the rear portion a and can be folded down as shown in Fig. 9. The front portion comprises two parts d, e which slide between longitudinal bars f, g carried by cross-bars h, j j mounted on bars k, m attached to the sliding parts d, e, and pairs of guide-rollers n, which engage above and below guide-bars o, p secured to the bars h, j. Vertical rollers may also be arranged on the brackets q supporting the rollers n. The bedstead bottom is connected by chains r passing over sprocket - wheels s to counterweights u. Mounted on the spindle t of the sprocket-wheels is a ratchet-wheel v which is engaged by a lug projecting from a bar w, the lower end y of which moves in a slot z and is engaged by a side bar of the bedstead when the latter is in the foldeddown position. The ratchet - wheel then being engaged by the bar w, the sprocket-wheels are prevented from turning and the chains r can be disengaged from the side bars without allowing the counterweights u to fall. Slots 3 are provided in the casing to receive the chains r and the pins 2 to which they are attached when the bedstead is folded. The bed is provided with head and foot boards 5, 4 and with folding legs 6.

摘要： Methods for improving mitochondrial function, decreasing iron accumulation, and/or decreasing oxidative stress by exposing cells or treating a subject to compounds or compositions of the general formula (I) are described that are beneficial in treating, for example, diseases and conditions such as Friedreich's ataxia, normal aging, and various neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease. Furthermore, such compounds are useful as probes for identifying defects in mitochondrial metabolism, mitochondrial iron accumulation, cellular stress among other mitochondrial diseases and helping to identify compounds active in overcoming such defects.
