A method for oscillating an optical scanner's flexure element comprising using a magnet disposed between two stators and beneath the flexure element to create two magnetic circuits that are generally symmetric and coplanar with one another, wherein a portion of the circuits share a common magnetic path through the magnet and remaining, non-common paths of the circuits through the stators are counter-directional relative to each other; applying electromagnetic flux to such circuits via stator electrical coils enhancing flux through one circuit while impeding flux through the other circuit and keeping the stator-induced flux vector through the magnet unchanged; and reversing polarity of the stator-induced electromagnetic flux at a regular frequency in order to oscillate the flexure element.

    • A light delivery device comprising an optical fiber having a non-feature portion and a feature portion having features that force light to couple out radially from the feature portion and provide a desired radial light output pattern. A method of photodisinfection of a cavity comprising of providing this device, apply a photosensitizing composition to treatment site within the cavity, and inserting at least a portion of the device into the cavity; and applying light delivered by the device from a light source to the treatment site within the cavity at a wavelength absorbed by the photosensitizing composition so as to inhibit or eliminate microbes located at the treatment site. The present invention also includes a method of making the device and a treatment kit containing the device and a container containing a photosensitizing composition.

    • A tube end having an outwardly projecting ridge is secured in a fitting having a body formed with a seat centered on an axis and open axially rearwardly. The tube end is coaxially engageable in the seat, and a retaining clip on the body extends secantally across the seat and can move between an outer spread position engaging a respective inner surface of the seat and an inner retaining position spaced radially inward from the respective inner surface. The tube end when fully axially inserted in the seat is engaged axially outward of the ridge by the clip. A latch element can move between an outer freeing position generally clear of the clip and an inner locking position engaged outward of the clip between same and the respective inner surface and preventing the clip from moving from the inner retaining position to the outer spread position.

    • An insect trap has a hollow body generally centered on an upright axis, having a central upwardly open output passage, and formed around the central output passage with an annular intake passage having a dark-colored inner surface. A light-colored foraminous wall upwardly covers the central output passage and has a surface area substantially greater than that of the intake passage. A blower in the body expels air from the body through the central output passage and through the foraminous wall at a predetermined low speed and draws air into the annular intake passage at a high speed substantially higher than the predetermined low speed. Insects attracted by the weak stream or by a contrast between the dark-colored inner surface and the light-colored foraminous wall are trapped in the annular intake passage.
