    • A coin inserting port (2), a returning lever for opening or closing a movable side plate (7), and a return port (4) at a front plate (1) in a coin sorting device. A stationary side plate (6) is fixed at one side on the back surface of the front plate (1). Longitudinal grooves (21) are formed on both the stationary and movable side plates (6) and (7). The movable side plate (7) is openably connected with a tubular elastic connector (14) to form a sorting passage (25). A coin chute side plate (9) and a return chute side plate (10) are fixed to the stationary side plate (6) to respectively form a coin chute and a return chute (27) for guiding the coin sorted by the passage (25). A cradle (40) is provided at the obliquely downward position of the port (2) to son the diameters of the coins. A magnet (50) is provided at an oblique passage (57) for rolling the coin introduced from the cradle (40) to provide different braking force according to the quality of the coin. A sorting piece (74) is provided at the branching point between the coin chute and the return chute (27) to sort the quality of the coin. A lever (97) is provided in the vicinity of the cradle (40) to absorb the coin depressing energy. A stopping wall (88) is provided under the cradle (40) to stop the insertion of a needle or the like from the return port (4). The sorting piece (74) is so suspended as to prevent the coin from entering the coin chute when the device is backwardly inclined.

    • A multi-unit coin ejection apparatus that drives selectively coin ejection units using a single motor is provided, which eliminates a selectively coin-emitting mechanism such as a shutter provided in each coin ejection unit. Coin ejection units are selectively driven by switching a destination of a driving force of a first motor using a switching unit. The switching unit has first coupling gears respectively provided for the coin ejection units, second coupling gears engageable with the corresponding first coupling gears, and a coupling gear displacement mechanism configured to displace the second coupling gears between a connection position and a non-connection position. The coupling gear displacement mechanism is operated in response to an instruction such that a designated one of the second coupling gears is disposed at the connection position and a remainder of the second coupling gears is/are disposed at the non-connection position in accordance with the instruction.
