    • A reciprocating saw comprising a reciprocatable spindle (44) having an end adapted to receive a saw blade (42), and a blade clamp mechanism (41) connected to the spindle (44) and adapted to attach the saw blade (42) to the spindle. The blade clamp mechanism (41) includes an actuating member (56) mounted on the end of the spindle (44), a locking member (50) operatively associated with the actuating member (56), and a biasing member (54) interconnected with the actuating member for biasing the actuating member toward an engaged position. A cover (52) encloses a substantial portion of the biasing member (54). A housing (59), made from a thermally insulative material, is mounted to the actuating member (56). An ejecting member (90) is interconnected with the spindle (44) and is capable of engaging the saw blade (42) such that the saw blade is urged away from the end of the spindle.
