    • Procedimiento para inspeccionar un rodillo (1) de laminación utilizado para producir una banda metálica laminadaen plano y para disponer un rodillo (1) de laminación de un tipo predeterminado y en servicio en una caja delaminación predeterminada en función de cualquier defecto detectado en dicho rodillo de laminación, comprendiendoel procedimiento: a) aplicar un sistema de inspección no destructivo (21) a un rodillo de laminación giratorio para generar señalesde tensión de salida de amplitud variable (41, 81) que corresponden a cambios en las propiedades físicas a lolargo de una dirección (2) de referencia para al menos una parte del rodillo (1) de laminación,correspondiendo cualquiera de dichos cambios en las propiedades físicas a un defecto de rodillo delaminación; b) evaluar dichas señales de salida de amplitud variable para obtener un patrón de señal de tensión de salida apartir de dichas señales de tensión de salida de amplitud variable; c) clasificar dicho defecto de rodillo de laminación según patrones predeterminados de señales de tensión desalida; y estando caracterizado porque comprende las siguientes etapas: d) seleccionar un valor de señal umbral que corresponde a dicho defecto de rodillo de laminación clasificadopara el tipo de rodillo de laminación que se inspecciona en dicha caja de laminación; e) calcular una diferencia entre una altura de pico máxima de las señales de tensión de salida y dicho valor deseñal umbral; y f) definir una acción correctiva para disponer el rodillo de laminación según dicha diferencia calculada,seleccionándose la acción correctiva a partir de lo siguiente i. eliminar una profundidad de material del rodillo (1) de laminación, siendo dicha profundidad una funciónde dicha diferencia calculada entre la altura de pico máxima de las señales de tensión de salida y dichovalor de señal umbral; ii. clasificar de nuevo el rodillo (1) de laminación para continuar el servicio como rodillo de laminación en unacaja de laminación diferente; y iii. desguazar el rodillo (1) de laminación para suspender el servicio.

    • A spray monitoring device analyzes images obtained from a beam passing through a spray pattern applying a spray to a substrate, and identifies discontinuities in the image as indicative of a discontinuity in a spray pattern. The spray pattern is produced by a plurality of nozzles spaced apart across the substrate for applying a suitable coating thereto. The beam is produced by a laser, that preferably has a collimator for distributing the beam intensity. The beam is imaged by a camera that provides a constant image to a computers where the scattering of beam light by the spray pattern is processed by image processing software and optionally provided to a user interface for analysis. Discontinuities detected by the user or software indicate faulty spray nozzles and may trigger remedial action.

    • When rolling steel sheet and other rolled stock, rattling occurs in certain operating states. This results in reduced quality of the rolled stock and rejects as well as damage to the rolling mill. No improvement was achieved by placing brakes on the cylinders. Electronic monitoring is not a satisfying solution. Given that rattling is a self-starting oscillation, resistance sensors are coupled to the cylinders and/or the rolled stock in order to stabilize the self-starting oscillation modes, modes with negative damping, by means of additional damping. In the example illustrated in FIG. 4, cylinder-shaped, rotating dampers are coupled to the working cylinders. Concentric or disc-shaped layers made of steel and plastic such as those found in layered oscillation absorbers are most effective and adaptable. The arrangement of the working cylinder and the damper illustrated in FIG. 4 makes it possible to suppress vertical (nullx1 direction) oscillations and the self-starting rattling oscillations in x2 and null5 direction responsible for the thickness and form waves caused by rattling in the rolled stock.

    • In general terms, the present invention provides a method of automatically scanning an inventory field to allow the selection of a desired item for retrieval. A camera is positioned in the crane trolley located above the field. The camera continuously performs a scan of the field displaying an image to the operator of the items being scanned. This real-time image allows the operator to distinguish between items scanned in the field. The operator can subsequently choose the desired item triggering the camera system to automatically capture desired information from the item which is in turn communicated to an inventory control system. The camera system mitigates the requirement of a second individual to communicate information between the field and the operator.
