    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an improved coating material composition for glass substrates that comprises a tetrasubstituted compound. SOLUTION: The introduction of the tetrasubstituted compound into a coating material composition for the glass substrates, and in particular, for an optical fiber, acts to delay the rate of deterioration of the glass or optical fiber due to moisture, and improves adhesivity between the glass substrate and the coating material composition. The introduction of the tetrasubstituted compound into a polymeric coating material composition also improves the interlayer adhesivity when more than one coating materials are applied to a glass substrate. An outer primary coating material composition or a matrix material that comprises an acid functional ethylenically unsaturated monomer is further provided. An improved coated glass substrate having a decreased rate of deterioration due to moisture, improved adhesivity between the glass substrate and the coating material composition and between coatings of various coating materials, wherein the coating material composition comprises the tetrasubstituted compound, is also provided.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition which gives a cured material showing low surface resistance, shows good hardenability and enables high speed coating by forming the composition containing urethane (meth)acrylate, a reactive dilu ent, a polymerization initiator and a conductive powder having a diameter of not more than a specific value and/or an antistatic agent. SOLUTION: A composition of the present invention contains 5-90 pts.wt. of urethane (meth)acrylate, 5-90 pts.wt. of a reactive diluent, 0.1-10 pts.wt. of a polymerization initiator, 0.01-70 pts.wt. of a conductive powder having a diameter of not more than 0.3 μm such as antimony-doped tin oxide, or the like, and/or 0.01-45 pts.wt. of an antistatic agent such as a fatty acid ester of glycerol and the hardened material of the composition shows surface resistance of not more than 1×1012 Ω/(square). The urethane (meth)acrylate includes a reaction product of hydroxyethyl (meth)acrylate and 2,4-tolylene diisocyante. The reactive diluent to be used includes a polymerizable polyfunctional compound represented by the formula such as ethyleneglycol di(meth)acrylate, and the like (wherein R1 and R2 are each hydrogen or methyl; and (n) is 1-100).
