摘要： An article is moulded from a thermosetting moulding powder by applying the required design to absorbent paper of a thickness of 1.5 to 7.0 thousandths of an inch, impregnating the decorated paper with a thermosetting resin solution to give it a resin content of about 50-60 per cent. passing the impregnated paper between rolls to remove excess resin, drying the impregnated paper, moulding the article, opening the mould before curing is complete, applying the impregnated sheet to the surface to be decorated, replacing the article in the mould, completing the curing of the article and removing the moulding. The impregnated sheet may be applied with the decorated side towards the moulded article and preheated to such an extent as to reduce its curing time to somewhat less than that of the moulding powder, and the excess resin may be removed from the paper by passing it between stainless steel rollers. The design may be applied by printing, painting or by transfers. The paper may be impregnated with the same type of resin as the thermosetting powder, e.g. phenol- or melamine-formaldehyde resins. The global or local position of 3-D spatial data points on the image is determined. The position of a point of interest on the three-dimensional image is determined by creating a three-dimensional polygon using adjacent 3-D spatial data points. The global or local position of these points may then be calculated using, for example, a ray tracing algorithm. The global or local position of a point of interest may alternatively be approximated, for example, by interpolating the global or local coordinates of the 3-D spatial data point(s) closest to the point of interest. Furthermore, a distance, bearing, or other measurement between two points of interest may also be calculated.
