    • The invention relates to a method of enhancing an audio signal in a receiving device. The invention further relates to an audio enhancement device and an audio enhancement system. The object of the present invention is to provide a scheme for improving signal quality of an audio signal received by a listening device. The problem is solved in that the method comprises acoustically propagating a target signal from an acoustic source along an acoustic propagation path, providing a propagated acoustic signal at the receiving device;converting the received propagated acoustic signal to a propagated electric signal, the received propagated acoustic signal comprising the target signal, noise and possible other sounds from the environment as modified by the propagation path from the acoustic source to the receiving device; wirelessly transmitting a signal comprising the target audio signal to the receiving device;receiving the wirelessly transmitted signal in the receiving device;retrieving a streamed target audio signal from the wirelessly received signal comprising the target audio signal;and estimating the target signal from the propagated electric signal and the streamed target audio signal using an adaptive system. An advantage of the invention is that a target signal is enhanced. The invention may e.g. be used in listening devices, e.g. hearing aids, receiving audio sound from a signal source via an acoustic path.

    • The invention relates to alistening device for processingan input sound to an output sound. The invention further relates to a method and use. The object of the present invention is to minimize or avoid build-up of howl in a listening device. The problem is solved in that the listening device comprises an input transducer (1) for convertingan input sound to an electric input signal(11), an output transducer (2) for converting a processed electric output signal to an output sound, a forward path being defined between the input transducer and the output transducer and comprising a signal processing unit (3) for processing an input signal in a number of frequency bands and an SBS unit (4) for performing spectral band substitution from one frequency band to another and providing an SBS-processed output signal(41), andan LG-estimator unit (5) for estimating loop gain in each frequency band thereby identifying plus- bands having an estimated loop gain according toa plus-criterionand minus-bands having an estimated loop gain according toa minus- criterion,wherein -based on an input (51) from the LG-estimator unit -the SBS unit is adapted for substituting spectral content in a receiver band of the input signal with spectral content froma donor band in such a way that spectral content of the donor band is copied and possibly scaled with a scaling function and inserted in the receiver band instead of its original spectral content, wherein the receiver band is a plus-band and the donor band is a minus-band. This has the advantage of providing an alternative scheme for suppressing howl. The invention may e.g. be used for portable communication devices prone to acoustic feedback problems, e.g. in the ear (ITE) type hearing instruments.

    • The invention relates to a hearing aid system with an electrical feedback cancellation path, for compensating acoustic feedback between an output transducer and an input transducer by subtracting an estimate of the acoustical feedback from a signal on the input side of the amplifier part, the electrical feedback cancellation path comprising an adaptive filter for providing a variable filtering function. The invention further relates to a method of compensating acoustic feedback in a hearing aid system and to its use. The object of the present invention is to provide an alternative scheme for estimating the acoustical/mechanical feedback in a hearing aid. The problem is solved in that the hearing aid system comprises a second electrical input signal consisting essentially of the direct part of said first electrical input signal (i.e. without acoustic feedback), and wherein the second electrical input signal is used to influence, preferably enhance, the filtering function of the adaptive filter of the feedback cancellation path. Preferably, the system comprises a second input transducer for generating the second electrical input signal, the second input transducer being spatially located at a position where the amplitude of the acoustical signal from the output transducer at a given frequency is smaller than at the location of the first input transducer, and wherein the electrical signal of the second input transducer is used to adapt the filtering function of the adaptive filter. Preferably, the signal path comprises a generator of an electrical probe signal for use in characterizing the feedback path. The invention may e.g. be used in binaural hearing aid systems or in connection with other electronic devices comprising a second electrical input signal, e.g. generated by a microphone separately located from a first microphone of the hearing aid.

    • The invention regards a scheme for generating a probe noise signal to be used in an anti feedback system of an audio system. The audio system comprises e.g. a microphone for capturing an audio signal, an audio signal processor for adaptation of the audio signal and a receiver for generation of an audible signal. According to an embodiment of the invention, a noise signal is injected into the audio signal path between the microphone and the receiver and used for estimating acoustical feedback, the noise signal being generated by the following steps: converting a digitized audio signal to the frequency domain, in order to obtain a series of magnitude and phase values, changing the phase values such that the phase of the resulting signal becomes less correlated, preferably substantially un-correlated, to the original signal, converting the magnitude and phase back to a time domain signal using the changed phase values. The invention may e.g. be used in a hearing aid, a headset or a pair of headphones.

This has the advantage of providing an adaptive feedback cancellation system which is robust in situations with a high degree of correlation between the output signal and the input signal of a listening device. The invention may e.g. be used in hearing aids, head sets, mobile phones, wearable/portable communication devices, etc.
