    • In a first embodiment, the present invention includes an instrumentation system for preparing a bone for soft tissue repair, the instrumentation system including a flexible drill pin capable of bending along a curved path; an aimer capable of engaging the flexible pin to bend the flexible pin; and a flexible reamer having a flexible portion along at least a portion of its length, the flexible portion comprising a plurality of laser cuts. In an alternate embodiment, the present invention may also include a method for preparing a bone tunnel in a femur adjacent a knee joint, the method including introducing a flexible drill pin into the knee joint; guiding the flexible drill pin towards a surface of the femur with an instrument introduced into the knee joint; drilling the flexible drill pin into the femur; removing the instrument from the knee joint; introducing a cannulated flexible reamer into the knee joint by placing the flexible pin within the cannulation of the flexible reamer; and reaming the bone tunnel in the femur along the path of the flexible pin.

    • In a first embodiment, the present invention includes an instrument for use in preparing a femur for soft tissue repair or reconstruction, including a cannulated, curved guide tool having a cannulated body extending to a distal tip and a plane defined by a longitudinal axis of the cannulated body and distal tip; and a flange secured to the distal tip and extending from the distal tip in a direction transverse from the distal tip, the flange having a first curve along at least a portion of the flange and a degree of tilt, relative to the plane, along at least a portion of the flange. In an alternate embodiment, the present invention may also include a method of preparing a bone for reattachment of soft tissue thereto, including visualizing a reattachment site; selecting a guide tool from a plurality of cannulated curved guide tools, each of the plurality of guide tools having a distal tip that includes a flange; directing the distal tip of the selected guide tool towards the reattachment site; and placing the flange against the surrounding anatomy such that the distal tip is on the reattachment site.

    • A shoulder model and methods of shoulder arthroscopy using the shoulder model. The shoulder model includes an acromioclavicular (AC) joint assembly, a joint capsule assembly, a scapula mount, a shoulder musculature, a skin, and a base. The AC joint assembly is mounted on the scapula mount and the joint assembly is attached to the AC joint assembly and fastened using a screw/nut to form the shoulder assembly. The shoulder assembly is placed in the shoulder musculature and the skin is rolled over the shoulder musculature and zipped in place. The bones of the shoulder assembly are made of foam-cortical shell, the shoulder musculature is made of foam, the soft tissue components are made of thermoplastic elastomers, and the skin is made of vinyl. A method of practicing shoulder arthroscopy using the shoulder model includes mounting the shoulder model in a beach chair position, making anatomical references, establishing a posterior viewing portal, inserting cannulas into the glenohumeral joint or the subacromial space, creating a labral disruption or a rotator cuff tear, and repairing the rotator cuff tear or labral disruption.

    • A method and apparatus for anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction using holes in bone created by retrograde cutting. A rotary cutter, mounted onto an insertion post of a tibial guide, is inserted through an anteromedial portal and the rotary cutter placed on the anatomical origin of an ACL tibial insertion. A drill pin is drilled through the tibia and advanced until it contacts and engages a cannulation in the rotary cutter on the guide. Further rotation of the drill pin disengages the rotary cutter from the guide. The retrograde drill pin is then retracted and simultaneously rotated for retrograde cutting of a socket or tunnel of desired depth in the tibia. A strand is passed through the cannulation of the drill pin into the joint. The end of the strand is retrieved from the anteromedial portal and a loop formed for subsequent graft installation. A similar technique is used to form a socket or tunnel in the femur except that a femur guide is used in place of the tibial guide. A graft of appropriate length is pulled through the anteromedial portal by the loops formed in the strands and the ends of the graft are drawn into the femoral and tibial sockets. The reconstruction is completed by securing the graft ends.
