    • Proposed is a device for forming a neck and flange at one end of a cylindrical hollow body (1), e.g. a can body, which is open at both ends, the device having two longitudinally mobile but radially fixed inner tools (2, 3) and one longitudinally fixed but radially fixed inner tools (2, 3) and one longitudinally fixed but radially mobile outer forming tool (4). When forming the neck and flange, the outer tool (4) executes a radial feed motion towards the inner tools (2, 3), at the same time advancing between the two curved sections of the inner tools (2, 3) which shape the inside of the neck and flange, thus pushing the two inner tools (2, 3) apart. The axes (2A, 3A) of the two inner tools (2, 3) coincide. The two inner tools (2, 3) have the same diameter which is only slightly less than the internal diameter of the hollow cylindrical body (1).

    • In the building of a tyre blank in a tyre building machine, the individual components of the tyre blank are applied by corresponding feed devices, such as ply feeders or the like, onto a building drum and in the process are subjected to treatment by suitable treatment devices, such as ply rolling-down devices, attachment rollers and splicing rollers. If these treatment devices are specially designed for the respective treatment steps, they require a relatively high outlay. A universally applicable pressing roller is therefore to be used, which is provided with a multiplicity of disks which are displaceable with respect to one another and, on a shaft, radially with respect to the building drum. The shaft is located in a mount by means of which it is adjustable radially with respect to the building drum. The disks are identical to one another. Each disk comprises an inner part and an outer ring surrounding said inner part via a ball bearing. A rectangular recess is made in the inner part, with the lateral surfaces of which it slides on the lateral surfaces of the shaft, which is rectangular in cross-section. In the top and bottom displacement volume formed between the top and bottom surface of the recess on the one hand and the corresponding surfaces of the shaft on the other hand, there is disposed a displacement tube into which a pressure medium can be admitted.

    • A method and an apparatus for forming circumferentially extending necked and flanged parts at an end of a bilaterally open hollow cylindrical body. First and second axially aligned shafts carry axially displaceable first and second inner tools, respectively. Each inner tool has a circumferential body-shaping and a circumferential body-supporting surface. In a first axial position of the two inner tools the shaping surfaces together define a circumferential shaping groove situated inside the hollow body, and the body-supporting surfaces support the hollow body. In a second axial position the two inner tools are at a greater axial distance from one another than in the first position to allow introduction of a hollow body therebetween. A third shaft, carrying an outer tool having a circumferential shaping surface, extends parallel to the first and second shafts. A positioning arrangement is provided for aligning the circumferential shaping surface of the outer tool with the circumferential shaping groove and for radially moving the outer tool towards the two inner tools such that a circumferential portion of the hollow body is deformed and forced into the shaping groove causing the two inner tools to axially spread apart from one another.
