    • A hologram recorder/player includes recording beam modulation controller which causes a spatial light modulator to modulate the recording beam in such a way that a hologram is recorded in a plurality of blocks in a unit recording region and that each of the blocks includes recording information (DATA) and error correction code, at a time of recording. The hologram recorder/player includes incident angle variable controller which varies a reference beam incident angle to a plurality of predetermined angles with respect to the unit recording region. The recording beam modulation controller causes the modulation of the recording beam in such a way that a different hologram is generated for a page each time the reference beam incident angle is varied and that the hologram in each page is recorded in a plurality of the blocks.

    • A hologram recorder (A2) includes: a light source (10) for emitting a coherent beam; a spatial light modulator (20) provided with unit areas having a plurality of beam reflection elements (21) to reflect the beam from the light source (10) in a main direction as a signal beam or a cut-off direction; and a signal beam optical system (30, 31) for directing the signal beam to the hologram recording medium (B). The recorder (A2) further includes: a wavefront reshaper (40, 41, 42) for condensing the beams thinned out in the cut-off direction by the beam reflection element (21) of the modulator (20), and reshaping the wavefront of the condensed beams; and a reference beam optical system (50, 51) for directing the beam from the reshaper (40, 41, 42) to the recording medium (B) as a reference beam to be shone in an overlapping manner with the signal beam.

    • A recording and reproducing apparatus includes a light source to emit a laser beam, an information light beam irradiation unit to irradiate a medium with an information light beam, a reference light beam irradiation unit to irradiate the medium with a reference light beam so as to form a specific speckle pattern on the medium. The reference light beam irradiation unit comprises a diffusion board provided in the way of a light path through which the laser beam is passed and generating the reference light beam, a rotation controller to rotate the diffusion board, and an identification information detector to detect identification information previously formed on a surface of the diffusion board. The diffusion board comprises a plurality of encode storage regions in which different identification information is formed and a plurality of diffusion pattern generation regions specified by the identification information. A position of the diffusion board is controlled based on the detected identification information such that a desired diffusion pattern generation region comes to a position through which the laser beam is passed while the laser beam is outputted.
