    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide watering-free planting facilities which supply a moderate amount of water necessary for growth of plants to a vegetation base to make growth environment favorable to the plants. SOLUTION: The watering-free planting facilities are provided with a base unit where the vegetation base is housed, a water tank separated and independent from the base unit, and a watering pipe connecting the base unit and the water tank to water via capillary force. The watering pipe is loaded with capillary material and water-holding material on the inside of a hollow outer pipe throughout its length so as to have capillary function and watering adjustment function.     • Adjusting variable delay circuit 311, receiving signal S1, is connected to the input of drive circuit 312. A time point t2, when the output potential of drive circuit 312 traverses reference potential VB between the superimposed potential of traveling wave V1F and reflected wave V1B and VA, is detected by comparator 62 for detecting the front edge of V1B, detecting variable delay circuit 60 for delaying signal S1 and D flip-flop 61 for holding the output of comparator 62 at the timing of front edge of the signal outputted from delay circuit 60. The delay time of adjusting variable delay circuit 311 is set so that value {t1+(t2-t1)/2} becomes substantially same as to all the output potentials of drive circuit 31 and so on.

    • A twin roll-type sheet continuous casting apparatus includes a nozzle for supplying molten metal; a pair of casting rolls for casting the molten metal supplied from the nozzle into a sheet, the casting rolls being horizontally disposed in parallel relation to each other, being cooled, and rotated in opposite directions, respectively; a coiler; and a support sheet extending generally horizontally below the pair of casting rolls for receiving the cast sheet and transferring it to the coiler, and being taken up by the coiler along with the cast sheet placed therein. Since tension is not applied to the cast sheet, even a brittle material can be continuously cast into a sheet. Also, a dummy sheet requested for starting the casting of the sheet becomes unnecessary, and even when a rupture of the sheet occurs, the apparatus can be continuously operated without stopping the operation.
