    • COLORED MATERIAL COATED TRANSPARENT CHIP FOR ARTIFICIAL STONE, METHOD OF PREPARING SAME, AND ARTIFICIAL STONE INCLUDING SAME The invention disclosed relates to artificial stone having metal like texture and appearance including transparent chips. The transparent chips are prepared by coating 80 - 500 parts by weight silica-containing transparent chips with 0.1 - 5.0 parts by weight colored material and 0.01 - 2.5 parts by weight curing agent per 1 part by weight of highly transparent resin, curing said mixture in an oven and drying at room temperature. The transparent chips provides natural stone-like patterns and textures for artificial stone. Non-limiting examples of transparent chips include broken-stone chips, quartz, quartz-silica chips, silica stone powder, quartz glass, synthetic quartz, silica, silicon dioxide, silica glass and mirror. Non-limiting examples of colored material are gold powder, silver powder, copper powder, aluminium powder, nickel powder and combinations thereof, and may further comprise aluminium paste and hologram or combination thereof. The artificial stone according to the present invention is prepared by mixing about 4 to 24 parts by weight of inorganic filler, about 0.1 to 5.0 parts by weight of the colored material coated transparent chips, about 0.01 to 0.05 parts by weight of curing agent, about 0.01 to 0.05 parts by weight of cross-linking agent, about 0.01 to 0.15 parts by weight of pigment powder, and about 0.001 to 0.005 parts by weight of catalyst per 1 part by weight of unsaturated polyester resin as matrix resin, forming the resin mixture in a mold, pressing the resin mixture, and surface-treating. The colored material coated transparent chips are preferable to have a gravity of about 2.0 to about 2.65, while the matrix resin is preferable to have a gravity of about 2.2 to about 2.8.

    • To solve the problem of damage resulting from the presence of fibrils or lint in a membrane which uses multifilaments that arise in the prior art, the present invention comprises: a further improved membrane, in which an open-weave knitwork is spirally manufactured using a monofilament, and then the spirally manufactured open-weave knitwork is embedded into a polymer resin. The open-weave knitwork is characterized in that it is woven at a certain angle by each monofilament so as to form either a rhomboid shape or a diamond shape. The monofilament is woven on a plasticized PVA cable so as to form a knitwork, and a polymer dope for a membrane is coated on the knitwork, thereby embedding the knitwork into the polymer. The dope is then coagulated. Here, the plasticized PVA cable determines the inner diameter of the membrane. The membrane, into which the open knitwork formed as described above is embedded, is expandable (extendable) in the lengthwise direction thereof, and is expandable in the radial direction thereof, such that the membrane is biaxially expandable (extendable). That is, the membrane is flexible in the radial direction thereof and in the lengthwise direction thereof. The radial flexibility of the membrane enables the latter to be backwashed at a greater pressure than can a membrane using a multifilament in which radial expansion is nearly impossible, so as to improve backwashing efficiency.
