摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a device and method for delivery of an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) to an anal sphincter.SOLUTION: A rectally insertable device 20 comprises a shell 22 for containing an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) 24. The upper end and sides of the shell are preferably smoothly continuous, and are formed from a material which is impermeable to the API, such that the API is unable to pass through the shell into the rectum. The shell may be constructed from at least one layer of any non-irritating material which is impermeable to the API and which is sufficiently strong not to tear during insertion into the rectum. The layer should be thin enough so that the shell is sufficiently flexible to avoid unnecessary patient discomfort. The shell should also be compatible with a lubricant used in conjunction with the device. Examples of materials suitable for use in constructing the shell include rubber, latex, silicon, polyvinylchloride, and polyurethane. Preferably, the shell is provided with a rounded tip 27 to minimize discomfort to the subject during insertion.

摘要： According to some embodiments there is provided an anastomosis device configured to reduce leakage, comprising: a first set of rings sized to be positioned at a first tissue wall; a second set of rings sized to be positioned at a second tissue wall adjacent the first tissue wall; and an element configured to draw the ring sets towards each other; wherein each set of rings comprises an inner ring, an outer ring, and a coupling for aligning the inner and outer rings with respect to each other; wherein the inner ring applies a first pressure onto the tissue wall which is sufficient to gradually form a passage between the first and second tissue walls; and the outer ring applies a second pressure onto the tissue wall, the second pressure applied radially outwardly relative to the first pressure, the second pressure sufficient to reduce leakage in a vicinity of the passage.
