    • A medical insertion assisting tool which involves a small resistance at the time of insertion into organic tissue, will not cause a feeling of discomfort and pain to a patient and is not likely to injure the organic tissue, and a medical insertion assisting tool which is not likely to cause kink and involves a small resistance upon insertion of a catheter thereinto. A medical insertion assisting tool comprises a tubular sheath having a lumen, a sheath hub connected to the proximal end of the sheath, a tubular dilator having a lumen, and a dilator hub connected to the proximal end of the dilator. The dilator comprises a first diameter expansion portion gradually increasing in diameter toward the proximal end of the dilator from the distal end thereof, a second diameter expansion portion increasing in diameter more gently and gradually than the first diameter expansion portion does, a diameter contraction portion gradually decreasing in diameter, and a drum portion having a substantially constant outside diameter. The dilator is inserted into the lumen of the sheath, the inner wall of the distal end of the sheath is brought into close contact with the outer wall of the diameter contraction portion of the dilator, and even when the dilator and the sheath are bent, the distal end of the sheath is in close contact with the outer wall of the dilator.

    • A curable rubber composition for the seal against hot water which comprises 100 parts by weight of a rubber mixture comprising 90 to 50 % by weight of a highly saturated nitrile copolymer rubber prepared by hydrogenating the conjugated diene moieties of an unsaturated nitrile/conjugated diene copolymer rubber or unsaturated nitrile/conjugated diene/ethylenically unsaturated monomer terpolymer rubber and 10 to 50 % by weight of an ethylene/ alpha -olefin copolymer rubber, 0.1 to 30 parts by weight of an organic peroxide curing agent and, if necessary, 10 to 100 parts by weight of carbon black. The seal produced by curing the above composition is so resistant to hot water containing chloride of lime that it is extremely reduced in the changes in volume and elongation and causes neither release of carbon black nor surface cracking in service.

    • An arithmetic mean value (PT1 + PT2)/2 of a detected value of a first pressure sensor (5) on a positive pressure side and a detected value of a second pressure sensor (6) on a negative pressure side is found so that when the arithmetic mean value is greater than a set mean value, a first switching valve (7) is opened only for an optical set time and when the arithmetic mean value is less than the set mean value, a second switching valve (8) is opened only for another optional set time. A detected differential pressure (PT1 - PT2) between a detected value of the first pressure sensor (5) and a detected value of the second switching valve (8) is found so that when the detected differential pressure is greater than a set differential pressure, a pump (4) is controlled to reduce its output and when the detected differential pressure is less than the set differential pressure, the pump (4) is controlled to increase its output. It is possible to enhance energy efficiency while keeping positive and negative pressures generated at inlet and outlet ends of a single pump in a desired range.
