[Class 80(iv)] The rear guards for the doffers and cylinders of a cotton combing or like machine are associated with linkage to prevent their being opened while the machine is running, and to prevent starting of the machine while the guards are open. A rotatable rod E extends the whole e length of the machine and carries arms g each of which may be brought over a projection on a guard D. An arm e 1 on the rod E is linked to an arm b 3 on a rotatable rod H. A rotatable stop h is secured to the rod H and is adapted to co-operate with a collar a on the setting-on rod A so that clockwise rotation of the rod H to release the guards is prevented when the rod A is in the " ON " position, and also so that if the guard is not locked in the closed position the rod A cannot be moved to the " ON " position. The lever B is shown connected to a sliding rod F associated with a hydraulic device as described in Specification 575,655, thereby preventing release of the guard D until the rotating parts of the machine have come to rest.

Class 138(1) A drinking glass apparatus of the kind comprising a spray chamber 3, Fig. 1, having. spraying devices therein, a glass-supporting openwork platform 26, 27 movable through the chamber, a valve-controlled water supply pipe 6 connected to the spraying devices, a reservoir 12 for detergent or the like and a feed pipe 14 connecting the reservoir to the supply pipe at 18, whereby flow of water entrains detergent or the like, is characterized in that the spraying devices include a single pipe bent into a sinuous form with parallel portions 22, Fig. 3, disposed in horizontal plane lengthwise of the spray chamber and formed with jet orifices and the sup- .porting platform is an openwork tray completely removable from the spray chamber and consists of a number .of interconnected parallel rods or wires 26, 27, Fig. 3, extending lengthwise of the platform, the base rods or wires 26 being staggered transversely in relation to the portions 22. of the spraying devices. The spray chamber 3 is mounted on a drain chamber 1 having. a drain outlet 5. A control valve 10 is provided in the pipe 6 which connects with a pipe 9 in which is interposed at 18, a cylindrical chamber surrounding a ven-. turi device described with reference to Fig. 5 (not shown). The pipe 9 is connected by a T-piece 21 to the sinuous spray pipe. Elbows 23 at the ends of the sinuous pipe are connected to vertically disposed jet pipes 24. The pipe 14 is provided with a control valve 15 mounted on the spindle 16 of the valve 10 so that operation of a, handle 11 controls both valves. The pipe 14 is also connected through a flow regulating valve 17. with the cylindrical chamber 18 so that the venturi. entrains' detergent.. A receptacle 13 facilitates the filling of the reservoir 12 and serves as a level .indicator. The rods 26, 27 are slightly springy and the platform is slidable over supporting ledges 30 of drainage extensions 29 and between the elbows 23 and bow springs 28 carried by the sides of the chamber 3. Drain outlets 31 connect the extensions 29 with the chamber 1. Flexible blinds 32 formed from articulated strips are provided at each end of the chamber 3.

    • A clockspring device that includes an outer housing with a circumferential wall that defines a chamber. The circumferential wall includes a vertically-oriented track. A rotor having a keyway is configured to fit at least partially within the outer housing. A coil of cable is positioned within the chamber and has a first end and a second end. The first end of the coil of cable is attached to the rotor and the second end of the coil of cable is attached to the outer housing. A clip having a first end, a second end, and a middle portion is configured to fit within the vertically-oriented track. The middle portion of the clip has two flexible tabs. Each flexible tab has a portion that extends away from the middle portion. The flexible tabs are compressed or bent in order to insert the clip in the track and slide it along the track and into an engaged position. When the clip is in the engaged position, the position of the rotor is fixed with respect to the outer housing. The clip may be moved to a disengaged position where it is still positioned partly within the track. When the clip is in the disengaged position, the rotor is free to move relative to the outer housing. The circumferential wall of the housing may also include one or more ribs and two spring clips to help center the clockspring device when it is installed in an assembly, such as a steering gear assembly.

    • A bendable caulking nozzle extension device for use with a caulking tube having a nozzle, said device comprising an elongated tube portion extending between a proximal base portion and a distal tip portion, and having a hollow passageway defined therein. The elongated tube portion is constructed from a flexible, resilient material that may be repeatedly and forcibly deformed. An attachment means is positioned within the proximal base portion for releasably affixing said device to the nozzle of the caulking tube. A deformable stiffening element is positioned on the elongated tube portion, and is constructed of a material that allows it to be repeatedly and forcibly deformed whilst substantially retaining such deformed configuration after the removal of a deforming force. Caulking material flowing from the caulking tube flows into said hollow passageway, and out of the exit aperture of the distal tip portion to a work surface remote from the nozzle of the caulking tube.
