摘要： A locking device for a container is provided. The locking device contains a weighted mechanism (66) having a mounting block (106) and at least one paddle (110) mounted on the mounting block (106). The weighted mechanism (66) is movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The at least one paddle (110) having two opposing ends. A first end is mounted to the mounting block by a rotatable coupling (120) to allow the paddle to pivot thereon. A second end of the paddle is detachably mounted to a surface of the mounting block (106), such that a sudden jerking or jarring motion, such as by impact with the ground, causes the second end to detach from the mounting block (106) to block the weighted mechanism (66) from moving from the locked position to the opened position.

The latch assembly (20) comprises a casing (30) and a lock bolt (38) reciprocating between locked and unlocked positions. The lock bolt (38) engages the engagement member of the locking strap (22) in the locked position and is disengaged from the engagement member in the unlocked position. When attached to the magnet, the pendulum weight allows the sliding block to slide to the open position.
